Egan Company is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Technician/Drafter to bring innovative designs to life! The CAD Technician/Drafter is responsible for the design of fire and security systems for a wide variety of construction and remodel projects.
The basic responsibilities of the CAD Technician include but are not limited to the following:
Assist Engineer in design development and creation of specifications of fire systems and security systems on a wide variety of projects.
Assist in the preparation of comprehensive fire protection packages including fire systems, smoke evacuation, and mass notification systems.
Revise existing drawings and prepare new drawings of basic electrical components & structures related to substation designs.
Prepares non-routine drawings with complex features using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes, or brief verbal guidance.
Work and learn within AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Plangrid, and Revit programs.
Generate construction documents from engineer red-line drawings, as-built drawings, and designed low voltage systems under minimal supervision.
Utilize design standards and think creatively to suggest improvements with styles and templates.
Work efficiently to meet project timelines while maintaining QA/QC.
Apply sound engineering principles to assist in troubleshooting and solving client-related problems.
Assist field personnel in resolving design-related installation issues.
Prepare layouts, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, diagrams, and sketches needed for successful installation processes.
You'll work autonomously on the overall designing processes and collaborate with the lead designer to handle any challenges.
Review work orders and procedural manuals to determine dimensions of design.
Convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions.
Submit designs for approval and obtain permits.
All other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Ability to read and interpret specs and blueprints; Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or Revit – intermediate to advanced proficiency.
Knowledge of Fire Alarm and Electrical basics; experience in a design role in the Fire Alarm and/or Security industry is highly preferred.
Proficient in the use of Google Suite.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with others in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational skills with a knack to deal with competing customer needs.
Ability to communicate with team members and others – written and verbal.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement - working a blend of in the Champlin, MN office and remote from home.
Performance of duties will be in the office, at customer sites, and jobsites as needed.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus.
