Controls Technician

Location: Champlin, MN

Overview

Egan Company is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Controls Technician. In this exciting role within our Industrial Controls team, you will be responsible for providing on-site support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of control systems and automation equipment at client sites across North America. This role will be delivering top-notch systems and services to our clients nationwide. You will work closely with our engineering and project team to ensure the successful deployment and ongoing operation of control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to Client Sites: Regularly travel to client locations to commission, troubleshoot, and maintain control systems and automation equipment. Travel is up to 50% annually.
  • System Diagnosis: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with control systems, PLC and HMIs, and related hardware and software.
  • System Device: Ensure proper connections of components, sensors, actuators, and other devices as required for control system commissioning.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to clients' personnel to ensure the proper operation, either remotely or in-person.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all service visits, equipment configurations, and changes made to control systems. Generate detailed service reports and documentation as needed.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Assist in the testing and quality checks of control systems to ensure they meet design and project specifications.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the engineering team to implement control system upgrades, modifications, and enhancements.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies, and promote a culture of safety at client sites.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service.
  • All other duties assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Required: Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Associate of Science (A.S.), Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), or equivalent technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in related fields.
  • Familiarity with Google® Suite- including Sheets, Docs, Gmail, and Drive.
  • Use must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Must be organized and willing to work in different conditions.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of various automation and control platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively at least and work in various locations (travel will be at least 50% of the time).
  • Knowledge of electrical safety protocols and procedures.

Pay Range: $28.27-$33.00 per hour (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus.
